Dave Ryan

Dave Ryan is an Advanced Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapist with extensive experience across public and private healthcare, the military, and professional sports. His expertise lies in managing and preventing running-related injuries, particularly focusing on stress fracture management in runners.

As a dedicated trail runner, Dave has trained and competed across many terrains, from rugged mountain trails to technical rocky paths and ultra-distance routes. Having completed some of Europe’s most challenging races—including UTMB, Istria 100km, Olympus Mythical Trail, and a recent second-place finish at Arc of Attrition by UTMB—he understands firsthand the demands of different surfaces placed on the body.

His unique combination of clinical expertise and real-world running experience allows him to provide insightful, evidence-based trail shoe reviews. By blending biomechanics, injury prevention principles, and extensive firsthand testing,

Dave offers practical guidance on the best footwear choices for varying trail conditions and runner needs.

James McCormack

James McCormack is a foot and ankle specialist who loves helping runners, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts find the best footwear for their needs. With years of clinical experience in biomechanics and injury prevention, he brings a unique perspective to trail shoe reviews, breaking down how each shoe influences movement, stability, and comfort.

As the co-founder of Trail Shoes Reviewed, James combines real-world testing with expert analysis, ensuring his reviews are performance-driven and tailored to runners with specific foot conditions like plantar fasciitis, flat feet, and hallux rigidus.

When he’s not testing the latest trail shoes, James shares his insights through detailed reviews, comparisons, and expert recommendations—helping runners move better, safer, and with confidence on any terrain.
