Scarpa Spin Planet Review

Today, we will discuss the Scarpa Spin Planet, the most eco-friendly trail shoe on the market. We’ll explain why they’re the most eco-friendly, their performance and fit, and what type of trails you might like to run or hike on with them.

Eco-Friendly

These are some of the most eco-friendly shoes on the market because you’ve got 100% recycled material on the upper, 45% in the midsole, and 30% in the outer sole. So we can’t find any other shoe that’s as Eco as this, that also performs and is super durable. Over 400 miles have gone through these shoes by our tester, Dave, and we will give you his feedback. We’re also going to break down the shoe specifications.

Spin Planet Specifications

So, first of all, in terms of the stack height, that’s the midsole cushioning on the sole. You’ve got 28.5 mm in the rear foot and 24.5 mm in the forefoot, which gives you a 4 mm drop. They’re approximately 290g in weight, so they are not super light. Then, in terms of fit, they’re typically true to size, and the upper is made from 100% recycled material and is a single breedable mesh of the tongue. Scarpa has its own axial TR Tech tongue, which has low padding and provides a wrap enclosure. The upper has an overlay to protect the toebox, with no additional lace housing on the shoe, while the heel counter is quite padded.

In terms of the more important things, the outer and midsole typically have 4mm lugs, Scarpa’s ATR rubber closure, and the lug design is orientated in different directions to maintain the goals of breaking propulsion and stability. The shoe has excellent traction on all terrain. It’s an all-rounder that can go from short and medium to long distances and, as we said, can be used for hiking.

Durability

So, in terms of our feedback from Dave, he feels the shoe is a workhorse that performs very well on almost all terrains. He’s done some runs in them over 100 km and still finds his shoe comfortable. The traction is really good on non-technical to technical terrain. The only downside that is found is that due to the lug length on muddier terrains, they can lose a little bit of traction. Overall, however, it is an excellent shoe, especially considering the amount of recycled material packed into the shoe. It’s one of our favourite eco shoes on the market.
